What you need to know to get married in Barbados
Do I need to be there for the Marriage License Application?
Yes!
Both parties need to be present to sign the Marriage License application at the Ministry of Home Affairs. The process itself goes
quite smoothly for our clients as we get all their details ahead of time. The License is issued the same day, and you can even get married the same day!
Please note there is a STRICT DRESS CODE in effect for visiting the Ministry of Home Affairs office. We will guide you as to what to wear when it comes time. We meet you at the appointment to assist with paperwork and ensure everything goes smoothly.
How soon do we get back the Marriage Certificate?
Processing the official marriage certificate usually takes 3 -7 business days.
If your wedding is on the weekend, it will not be processed until the next business day.
If you are leaving the island before processing is complete, the marriage certificate can easily be posted using courier or registered mail. This especially applies for cruise passengers.
If you would like more than one marriage cerificate, do let us know in well in advance so both can be requested the same time.

If an Apostille Seal is required (mainly for persons from European Countries) this should also be requested in advance.
All the above carry additional fees.
What is a boutique wedding?
A boutique wedding is an intimate and personalized wedding event that focuses on quality over quantity. This type of wedding typically involves a smaller guest list, allowing for more attention to detail and a unique, tailored experience for the couple and their guests.
What time can I get married?
VOWSBarbados normally orchestrates weddings any time between 9am to 6pm for our clients. For those wishing to have sunset weddings the best times are between 4:30pm to 5:30pm depending on the time of year. Our planners will advise you accordingly.
Do I need a visa to travel to Barbados?
Most visitors are openly able to enter, however please see the visa requirements for your particular country here.
Do I need to complete any immigration paperwork?
Yes! To get married you need to have proof of legal entry into the island.
ARRIVING BY AIR...This can be obtained in two ways:
Online
If you are arriving by air, you will need to complete the Online Immigration form at least 24 hours before travel (click here) . Once the form is completed, the Immigration and Customs receipts should be saved to your mobile device or printed, for presentation to Immigration and Customs upon arrival AND at the Ministry of Home Affairs for your appointment.
In person
There are also self-service biometric kiosks at the airport that allow arriving passengers to scan their passports and use facial recognition technology to quickly verify their identity. Please keep the slip issued by the kiosk in your passport to show proof of legal entry at the Ministry of Home Affairs appointment.
ARRIVING BY SEA
You will need to have your valid Cruise Card as proof of entry.
